London to Milan

It's now Monday morning so it was an early start to catch the Gatwick Express from London Bridge train station in the morning rush of commuters. So far so good we are now on the train heading to Gatwick. Then an announcement comes
through that the first 4 carriages will unhook & continue to Gatwick and the back 4 will go in another direction. We had no idea which carriage we were on so I asked a nice looking English businessman & he didn't know either but we could jump off at the next stop and run forward which we did but had to be quick and hoped we had moved forward enough. There were a few others doing the same so we weren't on our own. It was a sigh of relief when they announced the next stop was Gatwick.
We arrived into Gatwick with heaps of time to spare but plenty to look at. Finally saw our gate number appear so finished our cuppa then checked the gate again and the number was no longer there and now displayed Go to Gate and that's how it stayed until our gates were almost due to close. We began to think something was wrong so we found someone to help us and discovered that their computer system wasn't up to speed that day. They don't seem to announce their problems you either miss your flight or go digging for info.....EASYJET. As it turned out there were many others stressing as well but at the time you just think you've read it wrong. Thunder storms over Italy delayed us again so we sat on the plane for another half hour. After our adventurous day we finally arrived in Milan an hour and a half after take off.....a perfect flight and our driver was waiting for us when we arrived.
After an hours drive we arrived at the beautiful Lake Orta one of the smaller Lakes in the north. So quaint and old with its tiny little narrow stone paths through this ancient old village.

The village square lit up at night. We are staying in the building at the end. They call it a hotel but it only has seven rooms and the ground floor is where we have breakfast all included. There is no bar or restaurant. It's so nice and simple with all you need and we let ourselves in at the main entrance with a door code. Discover Travel you do it well and always find these special little corners that are not big and touristy.
Looking across at the small island of Saint Giulio with its night lights shining up the Abbey. Even more stunning when you're here.
View from our room.
Once we had settled in we found some food and called it a day.
